Among one of the more fundamental problems for companies looking to establish an operating presence in Myanmar, whether manufacturing or distribution driven, is reliable access to electricity. For companies reliant on cold chain capabilities, the country's ongoing difficulties surrounding the provision of a stable electricity grid only draw into further focus the need for reliable distribution partners such as DKSH who have not only their own in-country transportation capability, but also (and on this point more importantly!) their own power … [Read more...] about Selling Into Myanmar’s Healthcare Economy … Infrastructure Matters!
In one of my reflections on our survey of Myanmar’s healthcare system last year, I wrote that my favorite picture from my time in country was that of kids at traffic intersections hawking bottles of water along with collated copies of the country’s newest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) catalog. There are an estimated 309 ophthalmologists in the entire country, of which approximately 70 can be found in the city of Yangon. As you would imagine, the quality of the care these doctors can provide is quite poor given the lack of … [Read more...] about Yangon Eye Hospital
